EUIPO launches IP Next-GEN initiative to foster IP skills in support of European Competitiveness

On 13 and 14 May 2025, the IP in Education Network held its first meeting of 2025 in Budapest, organised by EUIPO in collaboration with the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office (HIPO).

Set against the backdrop of Europe’s evolving skills and education landscape, the event brought together representatives from the EU ministries of education, intellectual property (IP) offices and other relevant key stakeholders and policymakers to explore how IP education can empower the next generation of innovators and creators.

With a spotlight on AI in educationdigital transformation, and the launch of EUIPO IP Next-GEN initiative, the meeting reflects Europe’s bold commitment to make IP literacy a core skill for young people in the digital age.

Key interventions from CEDEFOPSALTO Digital Centre, the European Institute of Innovation & TechnologyAI Literacy expert group of Commission, OECD & Code.org and the Cumulus Association highlighted the growing momentum behind integrating IP into both general and vocational education.

From dynamic panel sessions to hands-on workshops, the network continued working together to turn vision into action — making intellectual property relevant, relatable and accessible for every youngster/learner in Europe.
