The Egyptian Intellectual Property Authority (EGIPA) has issued Decree No. 26 of 2025, published in the Official Gazette No. 132 on 17 June 2025, introducing substantial changes to the patent examination fee structure and related payment deadlines in Egypt.

Effective 18 June 2025, the official patent examination fees have doubled, rising from EGP 25,000 to EGP 50,000 (approximately USD 1060).

In addition to the fee adjustment, the payment timeline for patent examination and expert fees has been shortened. Under the new provisions outlined in Article 3 of the Decree, applicants must settle the required fees within three months from the date of notification, replacing the former six-month period calculated from the filing date.
