It’s been a little more than 2 years since the Unified Patent Court opened its doors. Since then, a lot has happened in the world of patent law practice and litigation.

The IPKat friends at ERA wish to inform readers that the European Patent Litigation Certificate (EPLC) course, which they have developed and offer in partnership with Maastricht University, is ready for a new edition, starting 24 September 2025.

The EPLC course leads to a certified professional qualification that entitles European patent attorneys to represent clients before the UPC. According to the organizers, this certificate is designed to equip participants with the legal expertise to plead cases before the UPC and to ensure that representatives are fully equipped to navigate complex patent disputes.

Officially accredited by the Administrative Committee of the UPC, the EPLC programme is designed according to a flexible learning structure and features practical case analyses and simulated court hearings for a more realistic training experience organized in small groups. It also provides participants with a rich social agenda, and a visit to the Court of Justice of the European Union (with also the possibility of attending a hearing if one is scheduled to take place on the day of the visit) and the UPC in Luxembourg.

Places are limited, so if you are interested do check all relevant information here.
