LAHORE, June 25, 2025: The IPR Enforcement team of IPO-Pakistan including Mr. Muhammad Ismail, Director (Enforcement) IPO Head Office, Islamabad; Mr. Anjum Raza Bokhari, Deputy Director (Enforcement) and Mr. Munir Tahir from IPO Regional Office Lahore visited IP Tribunal Lahore for meeting with the Honorable Justice Khalid Bashir, Presiding Officer of the IP Tribunal.
Director Enforcement explained the process of complaint processing at IPO-Pakistan against infringements of copyright and trademark. He informed the presiding officer that IPO has notified SOPs for IPR complaints. The SOPs are being followed in letter and spirit. The IPR Enforcement rules are also drafted in the light of IPO Act, 2012. Consultation with the stakeholders will be conducted before forwarding these rules to the Federal Government. He also informed the Presiding officer about IPR Enforcement complaints’ Module being developed with the support of Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for online receiving of complaints.
Honorable Justice Khalid Bashir, Presiding Officer of IP Tribunal, Lahore appreciated the efforts of IPO-Pakistan. He advised for early completion of work on draft IPR Enforcement rules and online complaint receiving system. He further added that SOPs are time gap administrative arrangement for processing IPR complaints by IPO. He advised that Copyright complaints should be forwarded to FIA and not to the Police as it is specialized law included in the schedule of FIA. He informed that IP Tribunal in Multan is functional now, Honorable Justice Raja Shahid Zameer is appointed as presiding officer of Multan Tribunal. About 200 cases of southern Punjab region are being transferred to this tribunal. The IP Tribunal-II in Lahore will also be functional in near future.
