As announced in our May 13, 2025 newsletter, the Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office (BPTO) has published a new schedule of fees, which will take effect on August 7, 2025.

With only one month to go, this is the perfect time to review your portfolio and consider advancing procedures before the BPTO, including:

- Filing patent applications (fees to increase by approximately 50%);
- Paying annuities (28–40% increase for invention patents);
- Requesting examination (approximately 50% increase).
