A Commitment to Global Collaboration

EUIPO’s participation underscored its unwavering dedication to building strong international partnerships which help address current challenges for the IP world. Over the course of five days, officials engaged in strategic discussions on aligning IP frameworks, sharing best practices, and leveraging cutting-edge tools to benefit innovators and creators. EUIPO reaffirmed its support for multilateral fora such as TM5 and ID5, reaffirming its commitment to a global IP system where collaborative, rules-based relations drive innovation and sustainable development. EUIPO also emphasized its role in promoting the use of IP, increase of IP filings worldwide, as a rising number of filings reflects a dynamic IP ecosystem and is a vital indicator of sustainable economic growth. Robust IP systems not only protect creativity and innovation but also attract investment, foster entrepreneurship, and create jobs, all of which are critical to achieving long-term economic resilience. These efforts aligned with the EUIPO Strategic Plan 2030, which prioritizes global convergence, capacity-building, and the promotion of the EU IP system and contribute to the overall EU competitiveness.

Expanding Reach, Delivering Impact

EUIPO’s external cooperation spans continents and includes all EU international cooperation projects, implemented by EUIPO. EUIPO had the chance to meet and take stock of ongoing cooperation projects with Caribbean, Latin American and African partners.  A special focus was placed on supporting candidate countries such as Ukraine and Moldova, which are part of EU project EU4IP managed by EUIPO.

The IP Alliances: Strategic Collaboration for Global Impact

Under SP2030, a key pillar of EUIPO’s global strategy is the development of IP Alliances, which aim to foster collaboration and generate impactful results through strategic cooperation among key stakeholders. These alliances will operate via an informal framework that connects IP offices in Europe and worldwide, user associations, and other stakeholders to enable a pragmatic, result-oriented, effective knowledge generation, sharing, and distribution.

The alliances will focus on three priority clusters: technology, people, and IP business value, addressing emerging challenges and opportunities in the global IP landscape. EUIPO, in an Team Europe formation, will continue to draw its strength from the participation.

The Power of the EUIPN

Central to EUIPO’s global strategy is the EUIPN, a dynamic platform connecting EU and non-EU IP offices, businesses, and user associations. The EUIPN promotes harmonization of practices and offers tools like TMview and DesignView —the world’s largest trade mark and design databases, with over 131 and 23 million records respectively. These resources enable users worldwide to access critical IP information, streamline searches, and reduce costs.
