ISLAMABAD, 24 July 2025: H.E. Dr. Maen Khreasat, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan called on Ambassador (R) Farukh Amil, Chairperson IPO-Pakistan to discuss Intellectual Property (IP) related issues that were of mutual interest to both Pakistan and Jordan.

The Chairperson explained the progress Pakistan was making in IP and IP Rights, in particular focusing efforts on the Chambers of Commerce, business community and academia in particular the university students all across the country and urging them to focus on Research and Product Development (R&PD) particularly in Agri-Tech.

Ambassador Khreasat agreed on the need for countries to preserve and take ownership of their national heritage and natural resources for the economic empowerment of their country’s citizens. He elaborated on Jordan’s progress in IP and the importance accorded to this issue in the overall trade and development goals.

The Chairperson stressed that the international trade and business system had become increasingly sensitive on Intellectual Property issues which could not be ignored by the developing countries, given their impact on trade negotiations. Furthermore, he added Enforcement was a critical part of the IP ecosystem.

Ambassador Khreasat suggested that the Pakistan and Jordan should move towards establishing cooperation on IP, possibly leading to a formal MoU. The Ambassador emphasized, as countries enjoying traditionally friendly bilateral relations, Jordan and Pakistan would both benefit from cooperation in IP matters.
