The Japan Patent Office (JPO) prepares and publishes the Patent Administration Annual Report (Data and Statistics Edition) every year with the aim of providing basic data on the status of applications for industrial property rights in Japan. We have now decided to publish preliminary monthly figures that form the basis of this report.

These preliminary statistical figures are provisional compilations based on statistical processing data from the Japan Patent Office regarding the number of applications, registrations, and trials for patents, utility models, designs, and trademarks, the number of international applications for patents and trademarks, and the number of requests for patent application examination.

Please note that the number of cases may change as we continue to compile detailed data.

For final figures on the number of patent applications and other statistics, please refer to the " Patent Administration Annual Report <Data and Statistics> ." (Currently, the report contains figures up to the 2025 edition (final figures for 2024).)
