The terms and conditions of the IP Enforcement Portal (IPEP) have been updated to streamline the access for rights holders and improve authentication procedures. These changes aim to make the platform more accessible while maintaining robust security standards.
To sum up, IPEP authentication options include:
Flexible Authentication: Rights holders can authenticate using a broader range of IP rights, including trade marks, designs, patents, plant varieties, and EORI numbers.
Digital Delivery of Safety Codes: For rights holders with registered email addresses in the IP Owner information of the EUIPO User Area, the safety code letter may now be sent via email, expediting access.
Provisional Access for Customs Detentions: In urgent cases involving suspected IPR infringements, provisional access (provided once per rights holder) may be granted to facilitate ex-officio Applications for Action (AFA).
Expanded Access Channels: Users can access IPEP via the Traders’ Portal (UUM/DS), depending on their profile and role, and for geographical indications (GI’s), producer groups or national authorities can authenticate through GIview.
These enhancements reflect EUIPO’s commitment to supporting rights holders and enforcement authorities with secure, efficient tools for IP protection across the EU.
