The notification regarding trademark registration published by this department on August 19, 2025had been postponed by the notification issued on September 24, 2025, due to widespreadarson, vandalism, and looting that occurred nationwide on September 09, 2025 during the GenZprotest. As a result of these incidents, numerous physical files within the Industrial Property Sectionof theDepartment of Industry were destroyed, creating a hostile environment and disrupting departmentaloperations. This notification is now being published with further clarification in this regard. All individualsandentities concerned are hereby informed of the following mandatory requirements:
1. For applicants who have filed the application for trademark registrationat theTrademarks Registry but the application is pending due to incomplete documents: All applicants whose trademark applications have been pending for more thanseven(7)years due to incomplete documents must file the request, along with all requiredsupportingdocuments, within 90 days (February 28, 2026) from the date of publication of this notice. Please note that failure to submit the required documents by the stated deadline will result inautomatic (Suo moto) cancellation of trademark applications that have been pendingforaperiod exceeding seven (7) years. This action will be taken unilaterally by the TrademarksRegistry, and such applications will be deemed abandoned and removed fromtheofficialrecords, without further notice. Note: This rule applies to all trademark applications from now on. Any applicationpendingfor over 7 years due to non-submission of required documents will be deemedabandonedand removed from official records.
2. For applicants whose trademark applications were published in the IP Bulletinpriortothe publication of this notice and surpassed the opposition period: Trademark applicants whose marks were published in the Industrial Property Bulletinpriorto the publication of this notice and no opposition has been filed against their trademarks, must submit an application for issuance of the Registration Certificate, together withallrequired documents (if any), within 6 months (May 31, 2026) from the date of publicationofthis notice. If such an application is not submitted within the 6-month period, thenthetrademark applications will be cancelled
