HUNZA, November 23, 2025: The kohQaf Summit was a landmark initiative held at Darbar Hotel, Hunza from 21 to 23 November 2025 to leverage culture as the foundation for soft power, national cohesion, and regional diplomacy — fostering climate resilience, strengthening economic partnerships, promoting sustainable tourism, and mobilizing investment within Gilgit-Baltistan. Wise use of IP for economic development was one of the prime focus of discussions.
Intersectoral workshops; curated conversations with experts, officials, academics and artists; Exposition, Artisan Market and many other activities were part of these three days program.
Team IPO-Pakistan comprising Muhammad Ismail, Director (GRTKF), Saifullah Khan, Director (Copyright) and Muhammad Iqbal, Examiner Copyright actively participated in all the activities of KohQaf event. They were particularly resource persons in the Workshop: Creative Industries & Cultural Economy of Gilgit-Baltistan; Panel Discussions: Indigenous Knowledge and Education; Cultural Capital & Creative Industries.
IPO-Pakistan also set up its stall during the KohQaf event in the Exposition & Artisan Market. A large number of participants visited the stall. The brochures about IPR registration process were shared with the visitors and information about importance of protecting IPRs was shared with them.
As a result of three days interactive sessions, workshops, panel discussion and media coverage of the KohQaf Event, it was found that this event was a good opportunity of networking and awareness raising among the students, researchers, business community, MSMEs, Women Entrepreneurs, Government bodies, NGOs, INGOs and Civil Society about protection of IP Rights and wise use of IP for business promotion in the national and international markets. Special focus was on Creative Industries, Traditional Knowledge and Cultural Expressions.
