K-IP Diplomacy Expands into Qatar, Elevating ROK’s Reputation in the Middle East

The Ministry of Intellectual Property (MOIP) announced that the Contract for the Establishment of a National Intellectual Property Strategic Plan was signed between MOIP and Qatar's Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) on December 14, 2025, in Doha, Qatar.

At the high-level meeting, the heads of delegation celebrated that the event marked the concrete step towards the effective implementation of the Strategic Partnership Program which was concluded between them in July 2025. They also shared their thoughts on the bright future of bilateral cooperation.

In accordance with the agreement, two MOIP experts and one expert from the Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Agency, affiliated organization of MOIP, have been seconded to the Qatari Ministry. They will support the local officials to analyzing the local IP environment and developing customized national strategies across the creation, protection, utilization, and enforcement of intellectual property.

MOIP Commissioner Kim Yong Sun stated, "We are pleased to expand our cooperation base in the Middle East, following our successful partnerships with the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia," adding, "MOIP will continue to seek opportunities to strengthen cooperation with new partners in the region."
