Throughout the week, participants employed advanced Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) techniques and cutting-edge online investigative tools to identify potential intellectual property infringements. By combining expertise and resources, they produced high-value joint intelligence, reinforcing defences against increasingly sophisticated digital threats.

Entitled Intellectual property crime cyber-patrol week, this multidisciplinary and multi-agency enforcement operation was aimed at mapping active targets, developing actionable intelligence packages, and facilitating the exchange of best practices.

This type of initiative not only promotes innovative technological solutions but also strengthens cooperation with the private sector – enhancing enforcement capabilities to detect and neutralise emerging threats.

The Cyber Patrol week brought together authorities from over 15 countries and major industry players to identify and disrupt criminal networks using digital currencies to fund piracy and launder proceeds from illegal streaming.

By sharing intelligence and aligning enforcement actions, the partners demonstrated how coordinated, data-driven interventions can significantly disrupt organized criminal enterprises operating in the digital space

This approach reflects the European Union's commitment to an integrated, cross-border strategy where international collaboration and technological innovation are vital pillars. By working together, we can better anticipate and address intellectual property crime in today’s global digital landscape.

This event provided a unique platform for EU authorities responsible for fighting intellectual property crime to strengthen operational cooperation in pursuit of a safer Europe.

Key outcomes of the Cyber-Patrol Week:

  • 69 sites identified and targeted - The combined estimated traffic for these 69 sites is approximately 11.8 million annual visitors

  • 25 illicit IPTV services referred to the participating crypto service providers for disruption.

  • Investigations are ongoing for 44 additional sites

  • Cryptocurrency valued at an estimated EUR 47 million has been traced through various accounts associated with these services.

  • Several of these services remain under continued investigation by both public and private entities.
