The EUIPO´s IP Enforcement Portal (IPEP) was presented during the 1st edition of the ‘training for officers on the field’ co‑organised by the Greek Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer’s Protection and the Global Anti-Counterfeiting Group (GACG), represented by INDICAM. The event was supported by the EUIPO, and took place last week, 27 February 2026 in Athens, Greece. It gathered representatives of all Greek competent authorities that detect and seize counterfeit such as customs, municipal police and the authority for market control. The training addressed officers working on the field, being on the front line to protect the Greek market from counterfeit items. It brought together right holders and national authorities to exchange practical information on the detection of fakes.

About the event

The one-day hands-on training was co‑organised by the Greek Independent Authority for Market Control and Consumer’s Protection and the Global Anti-Counterfeiting Group, represented by INDICAM, with support from the EUIPO.

The training aimed to support frontline law enforcement officers in targeting and detecting counterfeit goods. It provided practical information on frequently counterfeited products such as automobile spare parts, fashion apparel, and tobacco products presented by the right holders themselves. Around 15 companies presented their IP portfolios, key infringement challenges, and technical guidance for identifying counterfeit items.

IPEP: A unified digital tool for enforcement authorities

At the event, the EUIPO team showcased how IPEP supports Greek and EU enforcement officers by enabling secure, real‑time information exchange between authorities and rights holders.

IPEP Mobile App

The team also presented the mobile version of IPEP, offering field‑ready access to:

  • Multilingual, real‑time search to IP rights, product and contact point information on the spot.

  • suspicious‑case (detention notification) creation and syncing—
all optimised for rapid use by Greek enforcement officers.

Moving Forward

The seminar reaffirmed the commitment of the Greek national authorities, industry stakeholders represented by the GACG and the EUIPO to deepen cooperation and expand the use of digital enforcement tools like IPEP across Greece. Additional training sessions and onboarding support will continue throughout 2026–2027.
