As of 8 June 2026, the National Office for Industrial Property of the Dominican Republic (ONAPI) has made its industrial design data available through the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) DesignView search tool.

Key Points

With the addition of more than 650 industrial designs from ONAPI, DesignView now provides access to information on over 24.6 million industrial designs from 77 participating intellectual property offices. Since its launch on 19 November 2012, DesignView has been used for more than 11.3 million searches by users worldwide, with the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom among the most frequent visitors.

The EUIPO has long promoted free, high-quality intellectual property data to support transparency and improve access to information; the integration of ONAPI's design data is the latest step in this international cooperation programme.

Practical Implications

Companies exporting to Latin American markets or enforcing rights in the Dominican Republic can now search local prior designs free of charge via DesignView, supporting pre-launch clearance and invalidity evidence searches while reducing local search costs.
