On 8 June 2026, the European Union Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN) announced that trademark legislation and examination guidelines from the French National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) are now available in the IP Legislative and Practice Repository.

Background

Coordinated by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), the Repository brings together trademark laws and office practice guidelines from across the EU. It also integrates the Common Practices agreed upon by all participating IP offices and allows users to compare practices between member states.

With the addition of France, the Repository now contains trademark legislation and guidelines from 17 EU IP offices, with more offices expected to join in the future. The EUIPN also indicated that the Repository will be expanded to include design laws across the EU following the reform of EU design legislation.
