The EUIPO’s Management Board and Budget Committee (MB/BC) are made up of representatives from the EU Member States, the European Parliament and the European Commission. Representatives from the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property, the European Patent Office, the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Community Plant Variety Office and user associations attend as observers during the non-confidential parts of the meetings.
During the MB meeting, the MB Members dealt with a number of confidential items.
During the MB/BC Joint Meeting, the Members received a report on the Office’s activities related to the implementation of the EU Regulation on the protection of geographical indications for craft and industrial products, followed by a report from the Commission. The session concluded with an exchange of views on the implementation of the new Regulation at national level.
Furthermore, the Members were presented with an overview of the Office and the Boards of Appeals’ activities and strategic planning, including the EUIPO 2025 Consolidated Annual Activity Report. Members were further updated on the progress made on implementing the 2026 Work Programme. They exchanged views on this topic, praising the Office for the significant achievements made so far and the continued progress in delivering its strategic objectives. Following this discussion, the Members unanimously adopted the 2025 Consolidated Annual Activity Report.
Finally, the Members were briefed on the status of the legislative initiatives proposed by the Commission and EU Presidencies.
During the BC meeting, the BC Members unanimously granted discharge to the EUIPO’s Executive Director for the 2024 Budget. The Members also received information on the implementation of the 2025 Budget and an overview of the first quarter of 2026.
Finally, the delegates were updated on the state of play of the EUIPO’s Treasury Management.
