The Japan Patent Office has released the Preliminary Statistical Data on Applications, Requests and Registrations for April 2026 (as of June 30, 2026), comprising the Preliminary Statistical Data, an Overview, and Graphs (all in PDF format).

The preliminary data are tentatively compiled based on the JPO Statistical Database, including the numbers of filing patent, utility model, design and trademark applications, the number of registrations, the number of trials and appeals, the number of international applications for patents, trademarks and designs (starting in May 2015), as well as the number of requests for examination.

Please be noted that the data may be subject to change through continual data collection and processing.

As for the finalized version of statistical data, please refer to the Annual Report on Statistics. The latest finalized version of statistical data is available in JPO Status Report 2025, which reflects the 2024 statistical data.
