Pursuant to a joint decision of the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, the China-Singapore Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot programme is extended for five years from 1 September 2026 until 31 August 2031. A request to participate in the pilot programme may be filed as long as the application and the corresponding application share the same earliest date, which may be the priority date or the filing date of the corresponding application.

The PPH is a fast-track patent examination channel between different countries or regions, which accelerates the patent examination process through work sharing between patent examination authorities. Since the launch of the first PPH pilot programme in November 2011, the China National Intellectual Property Administration has successively established PPH cooperation mechanisms with patent examination authorities in 38 countries or regions, providing effective support for Chinese applicants to obtain rights quickly for their overseas patent applications.
