Recently, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, led a delegation to Singapore at the invitation of the organisers to attend the 17th China-ASEAN Heads of Intellectual Property Offices Meeting and the activities of Singapore IP Week.

Shen Changyu, together with the ASEAN Secretariat and the heads of the intellectual property authorities of the ASEAN Member States, attended the 17th China-ASEAN Heads of Intellectual Property Offices Meeting, at which the China-ASEAN Intellectual Property Cooperation Work Plan for 2026-2027 was reviewed and adopted. Under the new work plan, the two sides will further deepen cooperation in such areas as capacity building, protection and utilisation, user services, training, and genetic resources and traditional knowledge.

Delivering a keynote speech at Singapore IP Week, Shen Changyu pointed out that the high-quality development of artificial intelligence is closely linked with intellectual property. The China National Intellectual Property Administration stands ready to work hand in hand with intellectual property authorities, industry and the public around the world to actively promote the symbiotic evolution and integrated development of intellectual property and artificial intelligence, so that they may better benefit the people of all countries.

During the visit, Shen Changyu held bilateral talks with the principal heads of the World Intellectual Property Organization and of the intellectual property authorities of Singapore, Denmark, Brunei and others, exchanging views in depth on the latest work and future cooperation. He signed with Singapore the agreement extending the Patent Prosecution Highway pilot programme, and signed with Brunei a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, formally establishing bilateral intellectual property cooperation relations between China and Brunei.
