From 26 to 28 August, the Ministry of Justice and the China National Intellectual Property Administration jointly held the first special training programme for practitioners in foreign-related intellectual property matters at the East China University of Political Science and Law. A total of 150 participants took part in the training, including lawyers, arbitrators, corporate counsel and university teachers engaged in foreign-related intellectual property practice from provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across the country.

The training was guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, comprehensively implemented the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and of the successive plenary sessions of the 20th Central Committee, put into effect the arrangements of the Fourth Plenary Session, and thoroughly studied and applied Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building and Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law. It focused on accelerating the advancement of foreign-related rule of law and the building of a strong intellectual property country, on further bringing together professional strengths from all quarters in the field of foreign-related intellectual property, and on cultivating more practitioners in foreign-related intellectual property who have an international outlook and are good at solving practical problems, so as to provide stronger legal safeguards for serving enterprises going global and for safeguarding the country's overseas interests.

The training programme invited officials from relevant central departments as well as experts from universities and practice to give special lectures on standard essential patents, international copyright protection of artificial-intelligence-generated content, and responses to foreign-related intellectual property disputes, and organised practical discussions. Participants generally reported that the training was highly practical and hands-on, that it played an important role in improving their capabilities in foreign-related intellectual property practice, and that they would translate what they had learned into concrete actions serving citizens and enterprises going global, helping to raise the level and capability of intellectual property protection in China.
