Recently, Shen Changyu, Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), led a delegation to Singapore to attend the 17th Meeting of China-ASEAN Heads of Intellectual Property (IP) Offices and events at Singapore IP Week 2026.

At the 17th Meeting of China-ASEAN Heads of IP Offices, Shen joined heads of the ASEAN Secretariat and IP offices from ASEAN Member States in reviewing and adopting the China-ASEAN IP Cooperation Work Program 2026-2027. Under the new program, China and ASEAN will further deepen cooperation in areas including capacity building, IP protection and utilization, user services, training, genetic resources and traditional knowledge.

In a keynote address at Singapore IP Week, Shen noted that the high-quality development of artificial intelligence (AI) is closely linked to IP. CNIPA stands ready to work with global IP offices, the industrial sector and the public to actively promote the co-evolution and integrated development of IP and AI, so that their benefits can be shared by people in all countries.

During the visit, Shen held separate bilateral meetings with senior officials from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the IP offices of Singapore, Denmark and Brunei. The parties exchanged in-depth views on the latest developments and future cooperation. CNIPA signed an agreement with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) to extend the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Pilot Program and a memorandum of understanding with the Brunei Intellectual Property Office (BRUIPO) on cooperation, formally establishing a bilateral IP cooperation relationship between China and Brunei.
