Singapore’s intellectual property authority convened global leaders to address how IP frameworks should evolve as artificial intelligence reshapes innovation landscapes. The event examined critical questions regarding authorship, inventorship, and protection in an AI-driven world.

Key Announcements

The government launched several initiatives to support enterprises managing intangible assets:

- A public consultation on AI and IP to gather input on copyright and patent regime responses

- Intangible Asset Valuation Guidelines developed by the Institute of Valuers and Appraisers Singapore

- A Technical Reference guide for systematic IA/IP management within organizations

- A new certificate programme in Enterprise IA/IP Management through partnership with local educational institutions

Global Participation

The 79th ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation brought together senior IP policymakers from all 11 ASEAN nations. Officials representing major IP offices from Japan, South Korea, and China attended, alongside representatives from Denmark, Uganda, and the UK.

Recognition Programme

The inaugural IP for Growth Awards ceremony recognized 11 regional companies that leveraged intellectual property for competitive advantage and market expansion, including enterprises from India, Laos, and China.

According to IPOS leadership, the collaborative approach enables stakeholders to "develop practical approaches that support innovation and build confidence" in global IP systems.
