Recently, Hu Wenhui, Deputy Commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, was invited to lead a delegation to India to attend the 18th BRICS Heads of Intellectual Property Offices Meeting.

High-level representatives of CNIPA and of the intellectual property offices of Brazil, Russia, India, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates attended the meeting. Hu Wenhui noted at the meeting that intellectual property cooperation is an important area of BRICS cooperation, and that CNIPA is ready to work hand in hand with the BRICS offices, give full play to the development opportunities brought by the expansion of the cooperation, further broaden the scope of cooperation, expand its influence, and take BRICS cooperation in the field of intellectual property to a new level. At the meeting, the parties discussed progress on cooperation projects in various fields, adopted six new cooperation projects, and approved an update to the institutional document "Framework of Operational Guidelines".

During the visit to India, the delegation also called on the Chinese Embassy in India and exchanged views on topics including intellectual property protection.
