To the intellectual property offices of all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps; all departments of the CNIPA; the Trademark Office; and all relevant units:

Pursuant to the Administrative Measures for the Construction of National Geographical Indication Product Protection Demonstration Zones (for Trial Implementation) (CNIPA Office Bao Zi [2021] No. 4) and the Notice of the China National Intellectual Property Administration on Organizing the Application and Recommendation of National Geographical Indication Protection Demonstration Zones to Be Created in 2026 (CNIPA Bao Han Zi [2026] No. 17), after comprehensive review and public notice, the China National Intellectual Property Administration has determined the list of National Geographical Indication Protection Demonstration Zones (hereinafter the “Demonstration Zones”) to be created in 2026. The creation period is three years, from October 2026 to October 2029. The relevant provincial intellectual property offices are hereby requested to guide each Demonstration Zone creation target in carrying out the following work.

1. Focus on geographical indication protection, highlight the new development philosophy, and advance Demonstration Zone construction and management in accordance with the working principles of high-standard construction, high-level protection and high-quality development. Organize the relevant units and Demonstration Zone creation targets to coordinate regional resources, and deepen and solidify work on strengthening protection systems, improving working systems, intensifying protection, reinforcing protection publicity, and enhancing win-win cooperation.

2. Guide each Demonstration Zone creation target to fulfill its primary responsibilities, improve organizational leadership and advancement mechanisms, steadily and orderly control pace and steps, refine the Demonstration Zone construction work plan, clarify construction goals, work tasks, implementation steps and safeguard measures, and foster a sound atmosphere of multi-party support and coordinated protection. During the creation period, promptly submit implementation plans, work updates and annual work summaries.

3. Continuously strengthen policy interpretation, professional guidance and day-to-day management of Demonstration Zone construction, and give full play to the roles of policy incentives and exemplary demonstration.

The China National Intellectual Property Administration will strengthen policy support, categorized guidance and dynamic management for Demonstration Zone construction, organize creation acceptance inspections and mutual exchanges, summarize and publicize typical experience, promote the formation of construction models and reform measures with demonstrative effects, and promptly replicate and promote them nationwide.

Provincial intellectual property offices concerned are requested, in accordance with the Demonstration Zone construction administrative measures, to compile and summarize each year’s annual work plan and annual summary by 29 January each year, and submit them for filing to the Intellectual Property Protection Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration.
