To thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on education and important instructions on intellectual property work, the China National Intellectual Property Administration, jointly with the Ministry of Education, recently held a national training course for intellectual property teaching staff of higher education institutions in Beijing. Responsible officials from the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and the Department of Personnel of CNIPA attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. Nearly 70 front-line teachers from higher education institutions including Tsinghua University and Peking University took part in the training.

The training course structured its curriculum around “three emphases” and invited senior experts and scholars in the field to teach. First, it emphasized policy dissemination and interpretation, with sessions on relevant content of the 15th Five-Year Plan. Second, it emphasized a practice-oriented approach, with courses on cultivating internationally oriented talent and industry–education integrated teaching. Third, it emphasized frontier trends, responding to new requirements for talent cultivation in areas such as artificial intelligence. Participants said the training both resolved conceptual questions and imparted classroom methods, helping to leverage strengths, consolidate foundations, remedy shortcomings and reinforce weak links.

This training course is the first specialized training CNIPA has organized in recent years specifically for higher-education teaching staff. It is an important measure to implement the work on “strengthening intellectual property talent cultivation” in the 15th Five-Year Plan for Intellectual Property Protection and Utilization, and, through deepened training, provides strong talent support for a good start to intellectual property undertakings in the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
