To the intellectual property offices of all provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the Central Government and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps; to all departments of the CNIPA; to the Trademark Office; and to all relevant units:

In accordance with the Measures for the Administration of the Construction of National Geographical Indication Product Protection Demonstration Zones (Trial) (Guo Zhi Ban Fa Bao Zi [2021] No. 4) and the Notice of the China National Intellectual Property Administration on Organizing the Application and Recommendation Work for the Creation of National Geographical Indication Protection Demonstration Zones in 2026 (Guo Zhi Fa Bao Han Zi [2026] No. 17), after comprehensive evaluation and public announcement, the China National Intellectual Property Administration has determined the list of National Geographical Indication Protection Demonstration Zones (hereinafter the “Demonstration Zones”) to be created in 2026. The creation period runs from October 2026 to October 2029, for a term of three years. The relevant provincial intellectual property offices are hereby requested to guide each Demonstration Zone creation target in carrying out the following work.

I. Focus on geographical indication protection, highlight the new development philosophy, and advance the construction and management of the Demonstration Zones in accordance with the working principles of high-standard construction, high-level protection and high-quality development. Organize all relevant units and Demonstration Zone creation targets to coordinate regional resources, and promote deeper and more substantive progress in consolidating protection systems, improving working frameworks, intensifying protection efforts, strengthening protection publicity, and enhancing win-win cooperation.

II. Guide each Demonstration Zone creation target in fulfilling its primary responsibilities, improving organizational leadership and advancement mechanisms, steadily and orderly grasping pace and sequencing, refining the Demonstration Zone construction work plan, clarifying construction goals, tasks, implementation steps and supporting measures, and fostering a sound atmosphere of multi-party support and coordinated protection. During the creation period, promptly submit the implementation plan, work updates and annual work summaries.

III. Continuously strengthen policy interpretation, professional guidance and day-to-day management of Demonstration Zone construction, and give full play to the roles of policy incentives and exemplary demonstration.

The China National Intellectual Property Administration will strengthen policy support, classified guidance and dynamic management for Demonstration Zone construction, organize creation acceptance inspections and mutual learning and exchange, summarize and publicize typical experience, promote the formation of construction models and reform measures with demonstrative effect, and promptly replicate and promote them nationwide.

Relevant provincial intellectual property offices are requested, in accordance with the Demonstration Zone construction administration measures, to compile and summarize the annual work plan and annual summary by 29 January each year, and submit them for the record to the Intellectual Property Protection Department of the China National Intellectual Property Administration.Annex: 2026 List of National Geographical Indication Protection Demonstration Zones for Creation
