Pursuant to the joint decision of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand (IPONZ), the China–New Zealand Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot project will be extended for five years from 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2031. The relevant requirements and procedures for filing PPH requests with the two offices remain unchanged.

PPH is a fast-track patent examination channel between different countries or regions that accelerates patent examination through work-sharing among patent offices. Since launching its first PPH pilot in November 2011, CNIPA has established PPH cooperation mechanisms with patent offices of 38 countries or regions, providing effective support for Chinese applicants to obtain rights quickly for overseas filings.
