At the second annual France Design Impact Award, the INPI awarded its Societal Transitions Prize to “37.1,” a contraceptive boxer short developed by the startup 37 Degrés. The award underscores the importance of protecting design, particularly through design registration.

Returning in 2026 for its second edition, the France Design Impact Award recognized 14 innovative projects led by designers, agencies, companies and public actors that demonstrate the positive impact of design on society, the environment and the economy.

As historical partner of APCI–Promotion of Design, which organised the event on 18 September in Paris, the Institute awarded the Societal Transitions Prize to “37.1”, a sustainable, reliable and reversible male contraceptive solution that is non-invasive and non-hormonal, based on thermal contraception by testicular retraction. The prize was presented by Laurence de la Gorce, head of the designs department at the INPI, who emphasised the importance of registering designs and said the INPI stands alongside designers to support them at every stage of creation.
