From 14 to 16 October, the Hunan Administration for Market Regulation conducted technical assessment and fair-competition review of 94 local standards in the IP field, including 92 GI-related standards.

Local standards are an important foundation for GI protection and use and affect brand credibility and industrial competitiveness of GI products. Expert panels from tea, grain and oil, fruit and vegetable, livestock and aquatic industries, as well as standardization, IP, law and anti-monopoly fields, reviewed each of the 94 standards against the Negative List for Formulating Local Standards (2025 Edition) and the Fair Competition Review Regulation, and issued opinions under three categories: repeal, consolidate, or keep in force.

In recent years Hunan’s IP authorities have advanced GI standardization, established a provincial GI standardization technical committee, and guided the making or revision of 51 local and association GI product standards. The province now has 306 GI product standards: 2 national, 179 local and 125 association standards.
