2024-10-10

On September 18, 2024, the Indian Trade Marks Registry, in collaboration with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), launched an advanced AI and machine learning-based trademark search tool. The AI-ML trademark search technology boasts several key features. Visually impaired users can utilize voice-enabled search functionality, allowing them to conduct searches for word marks through spoken commands. The system incorporates phonetic and semantic search. The image-based trademark search allows users to upload images and find visually identical or similar marks.

Additionally, users can filter results with parameters such as classes, status of mark, etc. to gather a more refined search output. The advanced AI-ML search facility will allow us to provide more clear and precise advice to our clients on selection of new brands and protection of existing ones.

Further, the Trade Marks Registry has unveiled the IP Saarthi Chatbot, an AI-enhanced resource designed to deliver quick responses to typical questions about Trademarks in India. This service will facilitate information for the public who have general queries related to Trademarks.

These technological advancements highlight India''s dedication to integrating the latest technology to aid the growth of IP protection in India. These new tools are currently in Beta mode and will soon be made available to the public.
